St. Ethelreda Class of 1959

William Quinn

What's Going On Now:

After I graduated from college, I taught junior high school for six years. Then I entered the corporate world with IBM. I was with IBM for 28 years. I took early retirement because I was "chosen" to be part of a resource program. It's amazing that they can make you feel honored to lose your job. It was around the time of 9/11 so a new career was not a reality. I went back to IBM as a contract worker and stayed for an additional four years.

Rita and I have been married for close to 38 years. Tim is our only child - not by choice, but by God's plan. Rita has been teaching kindergarten for the last 22 years after having taken a break to get Tim on solid footing. Since Rita is still working, I have moved into household management. I also spend a lot of time taking care of Lulu. I'm glad to have the opportunity to be a big part of her life.

We've been fortunate to have visited Ireland on two occasions. We also had a great trip to Germany for Tim and Mirjam's wedding. After the wedding we traveled extensively throughout the area. But our best trip is yet to come. When Rita retires, thanks to the Archdiocese of Chicago's salary structure and retirement benefits for its teachers, we will be able to sail our yacht to and permanently dock in Monaco. Even in old age, dream on......
