St. Ethelreda Class of 1959

What's Going On Now:

Since our last reunion I continued teaching 1st and 2nd grade at Duke Ellington School in the Austin area.

I traveled most summers: Marco Island, Cape Cod, Quebec, Vancouver, Vermont, Texas, New Orleans and the Canadian Rockies. In 1980 I took off for 3 weeks and went to Oberammergau with my boyfriend's mom and aunts for the Passion Play.

In 1985 I took off the entire year to take care of my dad. He lived in Arizona so I got the "dry heat" feeling fried if I went outside during the day.

In 1988 or so I was tranferred to Nathan Davis School where I taught 2nd and 3rd, or 1st and 2nd grades. I left the children for two years - Great Idea! I didn't travel during the school year but continued to travel during the summers.

In 2001 I took off 6 months to go to Virginia and take care of my sister - cancer. She was in remission for a while but I went in 2002 and got to spend May with her before she died.

I am really enjoying retirement. I travel during the year now and leave summer travel for those who work. I've joined many clubs, volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital, and joined the Wellness Center. I also moved to Mistwood and love it!
