Susan Brown Bennett

What's Going On Now:

I lived in Oak Forest, IL for 21 years and moved to Mokena, IL in 2002.

In 1968 I joined The Northern Trust Company and for the next 35 years I held several management positions in various divisions of the bank. While working full time for NOrthern I attended St. Xavier College on the weekends taking accounting and business courses. In 1984 I was promoted to Operations Officer and in 1990 to Second Vice President in the Risk Management Division. I loved this job and held this position for the next 13 years.

During my career I traveled internationally and domestically on business and for pleasure but it never seemed like there was enough time to explore each destination thoroughly. Then in 2003 Northern did some downsizing and 700 of us were offered deals we couldn't refuse. Since I had been working full time from age 16, I seized this "opportunity" to take some extended time off and enjoy my favorite pastimes: Travel, Photography and Horses.

Best trips so far:

• Three week Photo Safari in East Africa
• Hot Air Ballooning in Albuquerque, NM at the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta
• Two weeks playing "cowgirl" on a working cattle ranch in Virginia Dale, CO
• Three weeks in Asia exploring Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Singapore

I am currently working for a small local bank in the "back office" researching debit card fraud and identity theft cases. The work is very interesting and with today's economy I am kept very busy so the days just fly by. I'm looking forward to retirement and turning my pastimes into my full time job.

25 Year Reunion Questionnaire Response:

Single ... Manager of International Communications. Attended Longwood. Enjoy aerobic weight training, running, cross-country skiing, traveling, racquetball and the theater. Presently enjoying traveling overseas and domestically and a career in International Communications and Finance.
